"The world has enough beautiful mountains and meadows, spectacular skies and serene lakes. It has enough lush forests, flowered fields and sandy beaches. It has plenty of stars and the promise of a new sunrise and sunset every day. What the world needs more of is people to appreciate and enjoy it."

Silence in the air :)

We all go through many problems on a day to day basis. But just think about how many of those would be eased if only we taught ourselves to relax alone in an empty room, in a state of mind that is content. And to appreciate that silence.

If you are content, you need nothing. No need to indulge in some junk food, or shop on impulse, or even log onto twitter to see what everyone else is doing - and then of course, compare your life to theirs. You are content, therefore, you need nothing.

But you’re in an empty room, are you able to enjoy the silence of your surroundings?

Many of us will have trouble sitting alone, quietly and doing absolutely nothing. Considering how fast life goes on, we all want something to do, we want to be productive all the time. If the habit of sitting still has not been cultivated, then accepting ‘silence’ in a positive manner and making use of it is a bit of a task.

I’ve taught myself to accept this silence. And to make use of it. In the morning, as my tea is brewing, I listen to my thoughts, I make myself aware of my urges to do something - to bring me closer to my goals. And then I become content with all the stillness and silence around me.

I savor the silence. Not many of us will have it, and it takes a while to get into the swing of accepting it.

We slow down, we calm down, and we contemplate.

And then we relax.
